Coaching Information:

Volunteers coaching in our Sherwood Park Tier 4 (Community) Program don't need a soccer background for the younger age groups (U3-U9), but it is preferred to have some soccer knowledge for U11+. Our program will help support these volunteer coaches, no matter their previous soccer experience.

Volunteers should enjoy working with kids, and helping with early development, both physically and mentally.

Age Group Requirements

• U3-U7 needs a Vulnerable Sector Check and "Respect in Sport"
• U9-U11 needs a Vulnerable Sector Check and "Respect in Sport" plus "Learn to Train", and NCCP Make Ethical Decisions, NCCP Making Headway Module, NCCP Emergency Action Planning, NCCP Rule of Two Module.
• U12+ needs a Vulnerable Sector Check and "Respect in Sport" plus "Soccer for Life", and NCCP Make Ethical Decisions, NCCP Making Headway Module, NCCP Emergency Action Planning, NCCP Rule of Two Module.

If you are interested or thinking of volunteering for a coaching position, please email Josh at j.pynten@spdsa.net or call 780-449-1343.

Volunteers have the option to be trained and certified by one of our Technical Staff.

• U9-U12 - "Learn to Train", with the on-field session on May 7 from 9am-1pm, (location TBD)
• U12-U17 - "Soccer for Life", with the on-field session on April 29 from 1:30-5:30pm, (location TBD)

The online portions of these certifications should be completed prior to the on-field session. For these sessions, please ensure you arrive 20 minutes early, with soccer cleats and appropriate writing utensils (notepad, pen, etc.) A further email will be sent out closer to these sessions with more details. For more information, please email Vikram at v.kaushal@spdsa.net.
